The 25th meeting of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) from November 24-29, 2018 happened at FLC Ha Long. This important meeting was successfully held with great support from VietnamEvent.
This is the MRC ministerial meeting held annually, as Vietnam is the country holding the chairmanship of the 2018 term.
Attending the event were 120 delegates from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam; two dialogue partners from China and Myanmar; and nearly 25 developmental partners from the MRC. The MRC Council has approved a work plan for 2019 with a budget of $ 15.8 million USD.
Key tasks include dialogues between Mekong countries, climate change adaptation strategies, fisheries strategies, and rapid information exchange on floods and droughts. In addition to the above issues, the MRC Council agreed to continue discussing and building consensus in several other important areas.
For example, updating the sustainable hydropower development strategy, initial design guidelines for mainstream hydropower dams, and guidelines for environmental impact assessment.
At the meeting, China and Myanmar both affirmed their continued willingness to cooperate with the MRC. In particular, China emphasized continued cooperation in data sharing, expert exchange, and technical research between China and the MRC. It contributed to strengthening cooperation within the framework of Mekong-China Cooperation.
VietnamEvent is proud to make a great contribution to the success of this meaningful convention.
