Launch Ceremony of Two Instructional Videos on Receiving and Handling Cases Showing Signs of Gender-Based Violence in Cyberspace

Hanoi, June 22, 2026

To raise public awareness of preventing and combating gender-based violence in cyberspace, while equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to identify, respond to, and address online violence, the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with UN Women, will organize the Launch Ceremony of Two Instructional Videos on Receiving and Handling Cases Showing Signs of Gender-Based Violence in Cyberspace.

The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. on June 29, 2026, at the Center for Women and Development, with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, representatives of ministries and government agencies, international organizations, media agencies, and experts in gender equality and the protection of women and children in the digital environment.

In recent years, alongside the rapid development of digital technologies and social media, gender-based violence in cyberspace has become increasingly complex, causing serious harm to the mental well-being, dignity, privacy, and safety of women, girls, and many other vulnerable groups. Acts such as online harassment, the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, threats, cyberbullying, online fraud, and technology-facilitated sexual coercion are becoming more prevalent, requiring coordinated efforts from government authorities, social organizations, technology companies, and the wider community.

The two communication videos launched at the event were developed through close collaboration between the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security and UN Women, with contributions from experts in gender equality, the protection of women and children, communications, and digital safety. The videos focus on helping the public recognize different forms of gender-based violence in cyberspace, understand procedures for reporting and handling cases, and access support from competent authorities and victim support service providers.

Using engaging, easy-to-understand visuals and realistic scenarios, the videos are designed for a wide range of audiences, particularly women, children, adolescents, and frequent social media users. These communication products aim to strengthen self-protection skills, encourage safe, responsible, and respectful use of the Internet, and promote a more secure digital environment.

In addition to launching the communication products, the event will serve as a forum for participants to discuss the current situation, emerging trends, and challenges in preventing and responding to gender-based violence in cyberspace in Vietnam. It will also provide an opportunity to share international experiences and strengthen cooperation among government agencies, international organizations, technology companies, and civil society organizations in preventing abuse, detecting violations, and supporting victims.

Through this event, the Organizing Committee hopes to enhance public awareness of the risks of gender-based violence in the digital environment, encourage individuals to speak out and report violations, and contribute to building a safe, healthy online space that respects human rights and promotes gender equality.
