VietnamEvent held a gala dinner for GCF-structured dialogue with Asia on the evening of April 17, 2018 in Danang, Vietnam.
GCF Structured Dialogues are focused interactions involving national designated authorities (NDAs) and focal points, accredited entities active in the regions, and other regional and country stakeholders together with the GCF Secretariat and selected GCF Board members.
The 2018 Structured Dialogue in Asia will provide a unique venue for these stakeholders to share their experiences in engaging with the GCF across key areas. A high-level ministerial session on April 17 will bring together ministers from Asian countries to highlight strategic opportunities for increasing the ambition for climate action in Asia and to identify opportunities for regional cooperation.
The Asia dialogue is expected to provide partners with an opportunity to increase their understanding of the diverse modalities to engage with the Fund. The discussions will also focus on further developing and refining country programmes. A key objective of GCF dialogues is to determine which priorities identified by country strategies and programmes are the best match for GCF support, given its established investment criteria.
An important expected outcome of the event is the articulation of programming trends and emerging priorities at the regional level. In 2017, the GCF Structured Dialogue with Asia held in Bali identified a roadmap of initial climate actions valued at about USD 9.6 billion with a requested GCF support of USD 2.4 billion in a diverse set of impact areas. A highlight of this roadmap was the 40% share of private sector actions that were identified. It is expected that this year’s dialogue will further build upon these actions.
